German Shorthaired Portra

May 8, 2010
Black Mountain, NC

We get home around 7 p.m., tired and hungry. Kim offered to drive down to the local CVS to drop off our rolls of film and I went outside to finish off the roll of Kodak Portra. Two shots left. Tessa in the evening light. Good old film! I must remember to use that Portra 160NC on Tessa more.

And all of a sudden, she's not that tired anymore!

Take Me To The Pilot

Transport, in Kim's Honda Pilot which had room enough for four photographers and their gear plus two dogs in their crates. Taken at the end of a long day.

The Usher

Spruce Pine was fun. Above is Tessa posing midst some chairs in an abandoned and roofless - as in "open air" building downtown.

The overpass though had me seriously baffled. Very high up (I zoomed in here), with too widely spaced a railing that a dog or child could easily fall through onto the (live) tracks and, further down, into the Toe River. It cannot possibly be up to code!Tessa's antics made me nervous so I kept a tight grip on the very short leash and didn't fool with the cameras much.

Canton, NC

May 8, 2010
Canton, NC

Our first stop was Canton, a paper mill town just west of Asheville. The smell from the paper mill was overwhelming, even though I knew it from coastal Georgia. We were wondering if Tessa with her fine nose would EVER be able to smell a bird again. Of course, the smell didn't keep us from exploring the town and we walked all over the downtown area and along the mill.

Gone fishin'!

Ding Dong!

Road trip to North Carolina! We left very early this morning and arrived at our friend's house shortly after 8 a.m. They are blessed with a wonderful yard and that's were Tessa was able to get some exercise before we all headed out to explore Canton and Spruce Pine.

Today was also our first meeting with Koda, the new puppy. They got along well, although Koda was not always pleased at Tessa's persistent attempts to play GSP style.
